FAQs
Do you travel for sessions?
1
Yes. While I’m based in Seattle much of my work takes place beyond it. Travel within 60 miles of Seattle is typically included. Locations beyond that may require a travel fee, depending on distance and planning involved. I regularly travel and camp in my van and am available for travel within the US. If you have a meaningful location in mind — I’m open to exploring what’s possible — hey, I love an adventure!
What if my dog can’t be off leash or is fearful or reactive?
2
That’s completely fine — and very common.
Almost every dog you see in my portfolio are photographed on leash. For safety, many remain secured during the session. Leashes and collars are carefully removed during the editing process, allowing your final portraits to look natural and unobstructed while keeping your dog safe at all times.
Fearful or reactive dogs are handled with sensitivity and care. Before your session, we’ll discuss your dog’s specific triggers, comfort levels, and needs. The session will move at their pace. Their well-being always comes first. Please give me all the info on your dog in your message to me — the more info the better — I love learning about a new dog.
What does the gallery process look like?
3
Within 7 days of your session, you’ll receive a private proofing gallery featuring the strongest images from our time together. These are unedited selections chosen for their potential, along with a few fully edited previews to illustrate the final tone and finish.
You’ll select your 5 included images, with the option to purchase additional portraits if desired.
Final edited images are delivered within 8 weeks of receiving your selections. Each portrait is individually refined by hand — never batch processed.
When do you schedule shoot times?
4
Light defines my work.
Sessions are typically scheduled around golden hour — when light is soft and dimensional. Overcast, rainy, and moody days are also stunning and atmospheric, (Obviously we love the moody Seattle vibes) but I may shift timing on these days to take advantage of the beautifully diffused light. We plan intentionally so your dog is photographed in conditions that elevate the final artwork.
It’s Seattle, what if it rains?
5
Sessions move forward rain or shine unless conditions are unsafe. Rescheduling is not guaranteed and is approved at my discretion. If you request a date change, a rescheduling fee will apply. Weather conditions such as sunshine, fog, or snow can never be guaranteed. What I can guarantee is that I will guide us toward conditions that photograph beautifully.
can I be in the photos with my dog?
6
Yes, though my primary focus is creating intentional portraits of your dog. If you’d like a few images together, we can absolutely incorporate that in a natural, understated way.
Do you offer artwork or print products?
7
Yes, through your gallery selection process, you’ll also have the option to order prints or other physical art products. I create with the vision of being worth for your living room wall. If you have certain hues or colors you’re looking to exclude or include to match the aesthetic of your space, please let me know and we can tailor location, dates, and editing to match. There’s no better feeling than getting post session texts from clients proudly displaying our work together in their homes.
How far in advance should I book?
9
Because I dedicate a large portion of my time to working with rescue dogs for free, dates fill quickly, especially during peak seasons (spring, summer, and fall). Booking 4–8 weeks in advance is recommended.
What makes your work different?
10
My process is slow, intentional, and deeply rooted in landscape. I approach each session as a study of light, texture, and presence — shaping images that feel cinematic and timeless rather than posed or trendy. As mentioned above, The Mutt Matchmaker project was born out of a desire to turn adoptable dogs to works of art to aid in their quick adoption, so a large portion of my photography each month is dedicated to the dogs who need the spotlight the most. I believe I’m the only photographer who offers a full service, 2-day shoot which is a mix of photography and overnight pet care on location, my transient lifestyle affords the most unique artwork available to my clients, something I’m deeply proud of.
